The Steel Wire Pole in Long Điền A Commune, Chợ Mới District, was constructed at the end of the 19th century and served as a communication system for the French colonial government. Visitors to the Steel Wire Pole can travel from Long Xuyên, cross the An Hòa ferry, and proceed to the Cựu Hội Canal junction, which is approximately 11 kilometers away. From the Cựu Hội Canal junction, it is an additional 8 kilometers towards Chợ Mới to reach the historical site.
The relic is a steel pole in the shape of a square pyramid, standing 30 meters tall. It has four sturdy base legs, each made of L-shaped steel connected unevenly. To withstand forces, the pole is further reinforced with diagonal steel bars arranged in a crisscross pattern, spaced approximately 1 meter apart along each section.
At the end of March 1930, comrades Lê Văn Sô and Lưu Kim Phong were dispatched by the Special Commissioner to Long Xuyên to work with comrade Nguyễn Văn Cưng on recruiting active members of the Vietnamese Revolutionary Youth Association into the Party. The interim provincial committee was also established and began actively building Party cells. Chợ Mới (New Market) was chosen as a key development site due to its strong revolutionary movement, extensive presence of the Vietnamese Revolutionary Youth Association, and its concentration of farmers, artisans, and intellectuals who were early in opposing the French and their collaborators. After a period of investigation, recruitment, and training, in April 1930, the Hau Giang Special Commissioner established a Party cell in Long Điền with comrades Lưu Kim Phong, Bùi Trung Phẩm, and Đoàn Thanh Thủy.
To commemorate this historic event, the first Party flag was hoisted atop the Steel Wire Pole. Following this, a larger flag was displayed, stretched across the steel wire between Long Điền A and Tấn Mỹ communes. Mr. Lê Văn Đỏ, a loyal supporter, was directly responsible for hoisting the flag, with significant assistance from other local supporters. The red flag with the hammer and sickle fluttered proudly, striking fear into the hearts of the enemy and sparking excitement and fervent discussions among the people. Subsequently, Party flags continued to be hoisted in various locations throughout the district.
The Steel Wire Pole reflects the significant historical value of the revolutionary struggle of the Chợ Mới District Party Committee and the people of An Giang Province in the early days of the Communist Party of Vietnam. It stands as a landmark for the people of An Giang when learning about their province's history. This site marks an important milestone as the location where the Party flag was first hoisted during An Giang's revolutionary movement and served as a gathering point for the masses in the struggle led by the Chợ Mới District Communist Party Committee in 1930.

The establishment of the Communist Party of Vietnam branch in Chợ Mới met the aspirations of the masses and provided a correct path for the revolutionaries and patriotic masses in the locality to achieve national liberation. This event was pivotal in the development of the revolutionary movement in Chợ Mới.
During that period, the Steel Wire Pole also served as a gathering place for large crowds of people protesting and fighting for civil and democratic rights. The marches and protests that took place there sparked a widespread struggle in Chợ Mới, significantly influencing the peasantry in the southwestern region of Vietnam. As a result, the Steel Wire Pole became a historic revolutionary landmark, symbolizing the revolutionary movement from the early days of the Party's establishment and in subsequent struggles.

The revolutionary historical site of the Steel Wire Pole in Long Điền A commune is a source of pride for the Party and the people of An Giang during the early revolutionary period. It serves as a seed, a cradle that nurtured and developed the history of the An Giang Party Committee. This invaluable asset must be preserved to positively influence traditional education and instill patriotism in today's and future generations.
The revolutionary historical site of the Steel Wire Pole was recognized by the Ministry of Culture and Information according to Decision No. 34/VH-QĐ on January 9, 1990. In 2010, to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the province invested in the restoration and enhancement of several components of the site. These enhancements included expanding the area, reinforcing the steel wire pole, planting trees, and constructing a traditional house that displays the history of revolutionary struggles during the resistance against the French and Americans, as well as the achievements of Chợ Mới district from 1975 to the present.
